The drop in electricity prices that businesses and people enjoy this spring is not just seasonal. The growing power of wind farms, the main driver of electricity generation from renewable energy sources, is making an important contribution to the long-term downward trend in electricity prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BE LIVE’s construction management projects for wind farms are steadily increasing. For example, a 40 MW wind park was exceptional ten years ago, a 70 MW wind park was the largest in Lithuania five years ago, and BE LIVE helps develop a 40 turbines wind park with more than 260 MW capacity these days. This is a renewable energy megaproject, as all 40 wind turbines will be built in one single phase, unlike in other significant projects.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BE LIVE is currently continuing to plan the supervising construction of new wind farms, where it will carry out construction management, verification of plant components, walk-down inspections, construction supervision, and consultancy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We plan to use even more digital tools to help manage complex construction projects in new wind parks projects. For example, we are already using drones to monitor construction progress, and we will soon be using them more extensively, For example, drones allow us to digitally track work schedules, monitor progress and control the quality of the work, thus avoiding any potential problems,” says \u0160ar\u016bnas Survila, BE LIVE’s Head of Development. He says driving around 40 power plants several kilometers apart on one site is not so easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facts that wind farms are growing and electricity prices are falling are closely linked. The long-term price falling of electricity in Lithuania is due to the development of renewable energy sources, primarily wind farms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April this year, the wholesale price of electricity fell to an average of 8.1 ct\/kWh in Lithuania. On the \u201cNord Pool\u201d, it was 42% less than two years ago, in April 2022, and around a quarter less than a year ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 29 April to 5 May, the average weekly wholesale electricity price in the Lithuanian price zone of \u201cNord Pool\u201d decreased by 40% from 83 Eur\/MWh to 50 Eur\/MWh compared to the previous week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wind is Lithuania’s leading renewable energy driver, accounting for 18.3% of Lithuania’s electricity consumption compared to 5.7% from solar in April. BE LIVE Group companies will continue to make an increasingly important contribution to the development of wind farms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In the long term, electricity-producing potential will be one of the factors that will help Lithuania attract more industrial investments. I believe that the electricity generated by Lithuanian wind farms will be exportable in the near future,” says \u0160ar\u016bnas Survila, Head of Development at BE LIVE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
