THE ENERGY-SELF-SUFFICIENT GLOBAL BOD GROUP INNOVATION CENTRE OPENS IN VILNIUS
The general designer of this building is BE LIVE. It is the first serious office and industrial complex powered by renewable energy sources. The investment in the Global BOD Group Innovation Centre amounted to over €27.5 million.
“Our building is maximally self-sufficient – it can provide all the energy it needs for heating or cooling, as well as for the production processes itself. In addition, it meets the highest environmental standards and has zero CO2 emissions,” says V. Janulevičius, Chairman of the Board of Global BOD Group.
According to Darius Kvedaras, BE LIVE Group CEO, the Global BOD Group Innovation Centre marks a new stage in the energy independence of buildings that is real, not experimental or compromised.
The Global BOD Group Innovation Centre has over 33,000 ㎡ of floor space, six floors with terraces and a basement, and is equipped with scientific, production, office, medical and storage facilities. The building is not connected to the city’s central heating system: it can be heated and cooled completely independently using geothermal heating and solar power. The electricity supply is only for the purpose of providing additional production functions.

More than 850 kW of solar modules are integrated on the building’s roof and facade. Heating and cooling is provided by 720 kW of heat pumps – four heat pumps of 180 kW each are installed. The heating system acts as a cooling loop and cools the building in summer.
A 3.3 MWh electricity storage system is also planned to ensure the building’s independence from any fluctuations in electricity prices and, if necessary, to ensure the autonomous operation of the building for up to one month without an external electricity supply.
During the winter season, the building will be able to be heated even if the power supply is interrupted for more than a week, while in the summer, the building can be fully autonomous for much longer. The basement of the building will be equipped with a state-of-the-art shelter with all the necessary equipment and systems.

“The Global BOD Group Innovation Centre will host research companies such as Caszyme, Nomads and LT Biotech. “SoliTek will develop and manufacture energy storage devices and solar modules. UAB Medicina Practica will also have its own innovative research laboratory. It will also include the production and marketing of orthopaedic events, medical and other research laboratories and offices, EssentOptic Europe and several other businesses such as dental and family clinics, massage and beauty parlours. The roof of the building will have a terrace to serve the needs of the people working in the building.
The building received its occupancy permit at the end of December 2023 and the official opening is expected in January this year.
