Enefit Green’s Lithuanian Wind Farm Witnesses First Turbine Installation

Kelmė-1, Enefit Green’s, Lithuania’s largest wind farm, has marked a significant milestone with the erection of its first wind turbines. The BE LIVE group of companies is expertly handling the construction management of this landmark project.

The Kelmė 1 project, a pioneering initiative by Enefit Green, has commenced the construction of its first wind turbines, each standing tall at 230 metres. The press release from Enefit Green reveals that the site will be home to 14 wind turbines, collectively generating an impressive 270 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually.

Nordex, the wind turbine manufacturer, shipped the wind turbine components, including the towers, blades, and nacelles, from various global locations to the port of Klaipėda. The journey from the port to the Kelmė region wind farm is expected to span approximately a month.

Despite the ongoing transportation of parts, construction work at the site remains uninterrupted. The components are promptly assembled into wind turbines as soon as they arrive.

Donatas Celešius, CEO of Enefit Green Lietuva, explains, “Building a wind farm involves many concurrent tasks. Presently, we are constructing the access roads to the park and laying the foundations for the wind turbines. The successful execution of such a large-scale wind farm demands meticulous planning, precision, and swift communication with contractors. Currently, our operations are progressing as per the original plan. We are committed to commencing the generation of green electricity at the new park by the end of this year, with full completion slated for next year.”

The Kelmė 1 wind farm, currently under construction, represents Enefit Green’s most ambitious development project to date. This 80-megawatt wind farm is set to begin producing green electricity in 2025.
